Better Together

Better together: making a difference in our local community

Domestic abuse affects thousands of individuals and families across Cheshire every year, and the support of local organisations is absolutely vital in helping us continue helping those who need us.

We're so fortunate to have had the support of several companies and members of the community this year who've donated, fundraised and volunteered with us so that we can meet ever-increasing demand for our domestic abuse support services. There are lots of different ways you can make a difference:

Donations

Donations make a massive difference to the people we help. Whether you're making a personal one-off donation, a regular monthly donation, or you're donating on behalf of your company or colleagues, we really do appreciate every single penny.

Special thanks to Stowe Family Law's Crewe office for their recent £250 donation.

We admire the work that you do supporting families affected by abuse and we hope our small donation can help you continue with this.

Food bank, clothes, gifts & homeware

We've been blown away by the generosity of local companies since the beginning of the year. Thank you to Crown Paints in Warrington for donating a large selection of paints for our clients who are leaving refuge or moving into a new property. And to the mighty Mornflake for an incredible donation of cereals for our food bank. Thanks also to Willaston WI for their generous donations to our food bank, along with cash donations and beautiful knitted items.

We kindly ask any food bank items to be dropped at our Crewe support centre or Macclesfield community store:

  • (Crewe) Lily Jones Support Centre, Mill House, Brook St, Crewe CW2 7DE

  • (Macclesfield) Live Free Community Store 20-22 Jordangate, Macclesfield, SK10 1EW – opening hours: Tuesday 9:30am-5pm, Wednesday 9:30am-1:30pm, Thursday-Saturday 9:30am-5:30pm (closed Sunday & Monday)

We're also accepting donations of clothes, gifts & homeware at our Live Free Community Store, so please pop down with any pre-loved items in need of a new home. If you're based in Crewe and have items you'd like to donate, please contact us on social media or call the helpline before visiting as we don't have much storage space at our HQ, so can only accept items currently needed by our service users.

Fundraising

Another huge thank you must go to Clare Louise & Rich Preston who recently hosted a White Party charity fundraiser in aid of My CWA – as well as the fantastic sponsors who kindly donated awesome gifts & activities for the auction & raffle, and the wonderful guests who came to show their support.

Want to make a difference in your community? You could host a party if that's your thing, but there are loads of other ways you can fundraise for us. You could host a coffee morning, afternoon tea or bake sale – or you could complete a physical challenge like a sponsored walk, run, climb or swim. Either way, we’d love you to fundraise in aid of My CWA.

Partnerships & corporate social responsibility (CSR)

We've announced new partnerships with Assurant and Macclesfield Golf Club already this year. Both charities have nominated My CWA as their chosen charity, which means they'll be fundraising and volunteering for us throughout the year.

Community partnerships have such a significant impact on the work we do and people we help – they help raise awareness of our services, build long-lasting connections for us and help employees give back to their local communities.

Thank you so much to everyone who's supported us as local families begin to feel the impact of the cost of living crisis on top of trying to deal with the trauma of domestic abuse within their household.

We cannot stress enough how crucial the support of our local community is for us right now. With demand higher than ever and budgets having to stretch further and further, we have genuinely never needed you more.
