Hi there and welcome to My CWA.
There are lots of possible reasons you’ve ended up on this website. Maybe you have doubts about your relationship – or you’re feeling threatened or unsafe.
Perhaps you have concerns about your own behaviour. Or you might be worried about a friend or relative. Whatever the reason, we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time to help you.
We’re a whole family service. We recognise that domestic abuse can affect everyone in the household, as well as wider family and friendships.
So we’re here to provide emotional, personal and practical support and advice to everyone involved. Please take a look at our get help pages to find out more.
Understanding domestic abuse
If you’re reading this and thinking, “But I’m not being abused, I just need help dealing with his anger issues,” then you’re not alone.
When you’re in an abusive relationship, you might not recognise it to begin with. Sometimes friends and family and those around you are the first to see the warning signs.
Not all abusive behaviours are inherently ‘violent’. Domestic abuse can be physical, sexual, psychological, emotional or financial.
Domestic abuse happens within intimate or family-type relationships and involves a pattern of coercive and controlling behaviour.
Take a look at our understanding abuse pages for more information. And remember: with the right support, all domestic abuse can be stopped.
Moving into temporary, safe crisis accommodation
If you feel as though you’re in immediate danger and need to escape from domestic abuse, we can provide you with temporary, safe crisis accommodation.
You’ll be moved to a secure and confidential address, where you’ll be offered support, counselling and other services designed to make you feel safe.
This accommodation can be arranged outside Cheshire East if it’s not safe for you to stay locally. Call us 24 hours a day on 0300 123 5101 (or 01270 250390 if you’re outside Cheshire East) or visit our crisis accommodation page for more information.
Please know that we are here for you. We’re trained to recognise the signs and symptoms of domestic abuse and we can help you figure out your next steps, whatever they may be.
We are non-judgemental. We won’t preach or tell you what to do. We listen. We support. And we understand that each family’s circumstances are unique.
We give you options and we’ll talk through them with you so you can make an informed choice. We’ll help you access the parts of our service you need, when you need them, so you can move forward to develop a secure and stable future.
