Our impact

Every conversation, every intervention, every safe space created - it all adds up to something bigger: Real change in people’s lives.

Over the past year, we supported 4,709 people directly across Cheshire - adults, children and families navigating domestic abuse and its aftermath.

Behind that number are thousands of individual stories. People reaching out in crisis. Children beginning to feel safe again. Families rebuilding their lives.

Our 24/7 Helpline: Reaching people when they need it most

Our helpline remains a vital first point of contact - a place where people can speak, often for the first time. Over the year:

  • 1,832 calls answered

  • Supporting 753 individuals in moments that mattered most

Alongside this, our community-based support continues to grow. Our Peer Support Lounge created space for people to connect, reduce isolation and rebuild confidence - on their own terms

Supporting recovery for adults and children

Domestic abuse doesn’t end when someone leaves. Recovery takes time, consistency and specialist support.

  • 1,757 adults received one-to-one support

  • 186 survivors completed our THRIVE recovery programme

  • 3,777 children were supported through family services

  • 102 children received intensive, specialist intervention

We work with children from as young as two, helping them process trauma, feel safe, and begin to thrive again.

Working to break the cycle

We also work with those who cause harm - because lasting change means addressing behaviour, not just responding to crisis.

  • 1,747 individuals engaged through early intervention at point of arrest or bail

  • 299 people completed our 24-week behaviour change programme

  • 83 individuals engaged through conditional caution pathways

This work is critical in reducing repeat harm and creating safer futures for families.

What’s changing as a result

We measure progress continuously, working alongside the people we support.

  • 86% improved their physical safety

  • 79% reported increased hope and wellbeing

  • 84% better understood the impact of abuse

  • 88% of those in behaviour change work showed measurable progress

This is what impact looks like in practice - people feeling safer, more informed, more in control of their lives.

Strenghening the wider system

Our impact goes beyond the people we support directly. Through our training and consultancy arm, Domestic Abuse Experts, we work with organisations and professionals across the country to strengthen how domestic abuse is recognised and responded to in practice.

Over the past year, 583 professionals have been trained - from police and social care to housing, health and education.

This means better conversations, earlier identification, and more informed responses - creating a system that works more effectively around survivors, not against them.
